A Short List of Our Favorite Sauces for Chicken Wings

There are more styles of chicken wings than the ones we can count, as almost every restaurant offers a different version of this delicious snack. Whether we prefer a classic hot sauce or a fruity and glazed one, there is no doubt that the sauce can make a huge difference in the end result. Therefore, whenever we are making them at home, we need to pay a lot of attention to the sauce, its texture, and its flavor. Since there are many to choose from, and everyone has their own personal favorite, here we share some of our favorite sauces for chicken wings.

When it comes classics, nothing beats the good old Buffalo wing sauce, and this tends to be the first sauce we taste when we try chicken wings for the very first time. This hot sauce combines butter and garlic powder to give a spicy flavor that few can resist. If you’re already bored and want to try something new, add Sriracha, lime zest, and cilantro to the mix. For a spicy and tangy mix, change the hot sauce for a green one using pickled jalapeños instead.

If we prefer sweet and sticky sauces instead of hot ones, Barbecue chicken wings sauce is another classic sauce that most of us have already tried and loved for far too long. Adding honey to the recipe can give us a refreshing and delicious sauce that goes great when having grilled wings instead of fried or roast wings. Also, another sweet sauce we just can’t get enough of is Orange-glazed sauce, which only requires an easy and simple blend of fresh orange juice, garlic, soy sauce, and brown sugar. This results in a sweet and tangy glaze perfect for those who can’t handle spicy wings or prefer sweet ones.

During the last couple of years, chicken wings sauce recipes have become quite popular, and cuisine infusion has made it to this profitable and exploitable market. As a result, many restaurants are also offering Asian-styled sauces to bring innovation to their wings. There is the Malaysian-inspired sauce that gives a super flavorful glaze to the dish, and that uses soy sauce, sake, oyster sauce, mirin, star anise, and dried chiles. Curry sauce is also a great sauce for chicken wings, adding lemongrass and ginger-scented coconut curry sauce that gives us funky and tasty results.

The Mediterranean influence has also inspired many different chicken wings sauce recipes that are as addictive as they are innovative. If we like extra-crunchy wings, we can coat them with chopped almonds before roasting, and then serve them with lemon mayo. If we want a more vibrant and spicier taste, we should make a green sauce using tons of our favorite herbs, and then add fresh chiles, vinegar, and honey. We will have an exotic and tasty sauce that will leave everybody wonder what your secret was, without being able to tell.
